Tuukka Toivonen

Tuukka Toivonen

Advisor

Tuukka Toivonen (PhD, Oxon.) holds the position of . He is an organisational sociologist of collective creativity with a broad-ranging interest in innovative processes and entrepreneurial organisations that intend to shape future economic cultures.

Tuukka works at three main levels. As the director of his institute’s unconventional teaching programmes (MSc & PhD Global Prosperity), he is developing a new approach to educating top transition leaders – both young and young at heart – who need to acquire the knowledge, creative tools and networks to advance sustainable prosperity across multiple levels and sectors, utilising entrepreneurial strategies.

As the Principal Investigator of the ESRC-funded project NetCreate (£250,000/2016-2017), Tuukka is co-designing a novel methodology for tracing the emergence of new ideas and models within entrepreneurial programmes and organisations. This methodology probes into, and systematically samples, different generative interactions that unfold in a pattern of “networked creativity”. His team of seven (UCL, Newcastle University, Lancaster University) is seeking to transform our understanding of “the creative interactions that matter” – i.e., conversation sequences that are core to value creation – in contexts such as coworking spaces, accelerations and innovation competitions. This work benefits from the entrepreneurial spaces and collectives network “Escapes” that is run out of London and Oxford.

Finally, as an emerging global leader in the area of collective creativity and social innovation, Tuukka advises and engages with a variety of private and public sector organisations, from startups and think tanks to coworking leaders as we as ecological and social innovators. He is keen to bring his experience and knowledge to new contexts within and beyond the UK. Tuukka thus remains open to inquiries from potential collaborators, prospective PhD supervisees, as well as knowledge-seeking organisations within the private, public and third sectors, regardless of location or background.
